After-school programs (2018)

In a small village called Puthukudiyiruppu, in the north of Sri Lanka, we support an after-school program where they provide help with homework help and other activities.

In 2018, the founders sat down with the parents and their children to map out their needs.

When we first arrived in 2018, the kids were studying under a tree.

One of the things we decided on was to build a hut as shelter for the kids when they were studying. July 5th of 2018 the first pillar was set.

When the hut was first built, it had a capacity for 26 children and later expanded to fit 69.

March 1st 2019, the hut was ready for the children.

In 2019, we held a meeting with the parents and the students to better understand how we could help them in the future.

The initiative was well received by the local families. We are providing three teachers with salaries and utensils.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the after-school program has temporarily shut down.
