Creating Jobs (2018-2020)

In 2018 the founders of Joshua Care traveled to Puthukudiyiruppu in the north of Sri Lanka, looking for ways to help the local families in the village. They decided to help them start a sustainable business so that they could provide for themselves. They came up with the idea of starting fertilizer company.

The fertilizer is made with the skin from coconuts. We invested in a mechine that grinds up the coconut skin.

We provided the small business with electricity, water and installed a small bathroom for the workers.

The business is now run by two women and two men. Four families supported by this project.

Since starting the little business, the workers have been able to provide for themselves from the profits from the business.

Until October 2019, due to flooding s during the rain season, followed by pandemic restrictions, the business operations have been halted.

We are planning to restart the business in February 2021 so that the workers can once again can provide for themselves.
